Media release - Conference on employment opportunities and trends in the labor market in the cross-border area

Start-UpStart Up Center Bar Foundation, in cooperation with its partners the Chamber of Economy of Montenegro and the Investment Development Agency of Albania (AIDA), organized a "Conference on employment opportunities and trends in the labor market in the cross-border area" on April 24 and 25 at the "Princess" hotel.
The conference is part of the project "Skills for sustainable employmentSustainable Employmentc growth of the cross-border area of Albania and Montenegro" - Skills for jobs Albania-Montenegro, which is supported by the Cross-Border Cooperation Program Montenegro - Albania 2014-2020 through the Instrument of Pre-Accession Assistance (IPA II).
The conference was attended by over 50 participants, representatives of local authorities, small and medium-sized enterprises, employment agencies, non-governmental organizations, educational institutions and the media. The participants had the opportunity to learn about the current situation and trends in the cross-border area of Montenegro and Albania in the field of employment, entrepreneurship, as well as the barriers faced by young people and women.
The conference was opened by the representatives of the Chamber of Economy of Montenegro and AIDA, which was followed by the presentation of the project by the director of BSC Bar, Ivana Tomašević.
The general goal of the project is to improve the employability and entrepreneurial skills of unemployed youth and women, as well as to provide sustainable support to employers, who are key players in facing the challenges of unemployment.

The general goal of the project is to improve the employability and entrepreneurial skills of unemployed youth and women, as well as to provide sustainable support to employers, who are key players in facing the challenges of unemployment.
Specifically, the target group will be supported through:
- Start-up and mentoring program for self-employment/entrepreneurship for 30 unemployed young people and women from the cross-border region (15 from Montenegro, 15 from Albania);
- Financial support for the development of 10 newly founded businesses (5 from each country) in the amount of 3000 euros;
- Organized paid internship for 3 months for 30 young people (15 from each country). In which 30 employers (15 from each country) will be engaged, who will train young people for 3 months to acquire knowledge and skills adapted to the labor market. Employers are also provided with compensation for trainers at the workplace.
- Organized professional training for a tourist guide for 10 people.
After learning about the goals and benefits of the project, the participants had the opportunity to see the current situation, limitations and opportunities on the labor market in Montenegro, which was presented by Mr. Milutin Vučinić from the Employment Agency of Montenegro.
Below is also presented the current situation, limitations and opportunities on the labor market in Albania by the representative of the Employment Agency of Albania, Mr. Dritan Mezini from the employment agency "DuaPune".
On the second day of the conference, participants had the opportunity to watch two panels. The first panel dealt with the topic of the support program of the Ministry of Economic Development of Montenegro for youth, women and the SME sector. The representative of the Ministry, Mrs. Anđela Gajević.
On the second panel is Prof. Dr. Darko Lacmanović from the "Faculty of Tourism of the Mediterranean University" presented the state and development trends in tourism, while Prof. Ph.D. Sandra Đurović from the "Faculty of Business Economics and Law of the Adriatic University", and Ajla Jadadić from the Union of Young Entrepreneurs discussed the situation and the necessary skills and competencies of young people for future employment and youth entrepreneurship.
At the end of the conference, there was a particularly interesting presentation of youth entrepreneurship and education in Albania, which was presented by Liridona Ura and Armanda Terpo from the organization "GO2Albania".
At the conference, it was concluded that it is important to support the development of the education of young people in order to be competitive on the labor market and become successful entrepreneurs. This was followed by the signing of cooperation agreements with all interested institutions, organizations and individuals who wish to contribute to the project in the coming period.
